Just Cause 4’s Tornado Gameplay Trailer Is Bonkers

Just Cause 4

It’s no secret that the Just Cause franchise is known for giving players the ability to create mayhem in gigantic open-world environments, and judging from the new gameplay trailer shown at Gamescom, it looks like the fourth entry will be no exception.

In Just Cause 4, Rico Rodriguez heads to the fictional South American country known as Solís to discover the truth about his past. As well as his using his parachute and his trademark grappling hook, we see from the gameplay video that Rico will also now have the ability to use wind currents to glide through the air, making him seem like an even more badass version of Superman.

The game will utilize Avalanche’s new Apex Engine, which means that the trajectory of every moving object will be calculated in real-time, so it sounds like Just Cause 4 will have the most realistic and advanced physics mechanics of any entry in the series yet.

Other new features will include a charge pulse which blasts objects apart when they meet, the ability to attach multiple airlifters to any object you encounter, which can then be sent crashing back down to the ground whenever you please, and a new vehicle known as the Storm Chaser, which allows Rico to literally drive through a tornado, which, as you can see below, is beyond epic.

Just Cause 4 will be published by Square Enix on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on December 4.

Just Cause 3 makes the cut for our best open world games. Will the fourth entry cut the mustard? Let us know.
