Jeremy Borash Signs With WWE

WWE have signed Impact Wrestling stalwart Jeremy Borash.

With the move considered a shock by fans and insiders, Borash leaves the company he has been with since their beginnings in 2002.

Throughout the chaotic and tumultuous history of TNA/GFW/Impact, Borash has been the one constant. Many former and current Impact wrestlers cite Borash as the only steady and reliable figure in the company, sailing the political waters with ease.

Making his name as an announcer and producer, a lot of the work Borash performed with Impact went largely unnoticed and it is only until recently that the extent of his commitment to the company has had light cast upon it.

Borash is credited with nurturing the success of Matt Hardy’s Broken gimmick and it can be seen as no coincidence that WWE’s own ‘Woken Matt Hardy’ is now on TV just before the arrival of Borash.

Reports state that Borash will be initially working with NXT and other strands of WWE’s developmental system.

Borash was a major advocate for the use of social media for Impact, and he was a pivotal figure in negotiating and implementing partnerships between his former employers and the likes of Mexican promotion AAA, as well as the recently-established link with Twitch.

Outside of his work with Impact, Borash was also responsible for the ECW nostalgia-tinged Hardcore Homecoming event and the subsequent Forever Hardcore documentary that focused on the now-defunct promotion.

With WWE in possession of all trademarks relating to ECW, we may be privy to a resurgence within WWE’s vast commercial output.

His departure will be a huge loss for Impact. The company, lately under the creative counsel of Don Callis and Scott D’Amore, has said goodbye to their most loyal and versatile employee.

With the losses of Bobby Lashley, EC3 and now Borash, the resurrection of Impact is taking more punches than it is landing.

For WWE, an interesting week of developments continues. Announcing on Monday that they had resigned Jonathan Coachman to commentating duties on Monday Night RAW, WWE are stacking their backstage, commentary and production teams in the run up to WrestleMania.
