Jonathan “The Coach” Coachman has returned to WWE and will be placed immediately on the Monday Night RAW commentary team for tonight’s broadcast.

Coachman – who left the company in June 2008 – returns to WWE after a decade spent making a name for himself at ESPN.

Beginning his WWE career as a backstage announcer in 1999, usually being a comedy foil for The Rock’s backstage interviews, Coachman became a welcome and familiar face on WWE programming.

Showing a willingness to dig in and play his part, Coachman played big roles in the original ECW One Night Stand PPV in 2005, commentated on hundreds of events and even participated in a handicap match against Goldberg, eating a rather hefty-looking Spear into the bargain.

His passion for wrestling not having dimmed, Coachman presented his own WWE show, Off The Top Rope, on ESPN for a number of years.

Booker T, the man he replaces at the commentary table, will be found primarily on PPV kick-off show panels and fulfilling duties as a WWE Ambassador.

Coachman’s return will no doubt be welcomed by long-term fans, and his natural passion for sport, wrestling and the roar of the crowd will be met with appreciation by newer ones.
