ITTA Is A Beautiful Bullet Hell About Hope

"I didn't want ITTA to be devoid of light any more."

Developer Glass Revolver and publisher Armor Games Studios have announced ITTA for the Nintendo Switch and PC.

Described as a “boss-rush style bullet hell title”, ITTA pits you in the shoes of a young girl armed with her father’s revolver under the guidance of a ghost cat, which is hopefully as brilliant as it sounds.

Gameplay will revolve around you taking on giant bosses who had been locked away in what is shaping up to be a challening adventure and one that deals in mental health and compassion.

It’s a deeply personal story for its creator, Jacob Williams, who had an idea for the game but with a less “bright” slant back in 2016:

“I started designing ITTA in late December 2016 while staying in a psych ward. I was at the lowest point of my life. ‘Itta’ is Japanese for ‘gone’. It was to be a bleak, depressing game, with no hint of levity or hope.

“Then, near the end of my stay, an older woman around 60 who had been there for the better part of a year approached me and gave me a goodbye present – a papercraft she had made earlier that day. As a reminder to myself I made her papercraft a prominent symbol in the game, dotted around the world. And as my outlook on life slowly began to change, so too did the game: I didn’t want ITTA to be devoid of light any more.”

ITTA is due for release sometime in 2020.
