Inscryption: How To Beat The Angler

Angling for victory.

Boss Guide - The Angler
Boss Guide - The Angler

After the Prospector falls in Inscryption, players will step into the Wetlands where they’ll be greeted by the dim-witted, fish-obsessed Angler as the boss of this stage. The Angler can cause a lot of pressure on the player’s card play with their tricks. We’re here to help dispel the nature of these dastardly maneuvers.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Angler in Inscryption.

Fish Hook

Unlike the Prospector, the Angler comes in swinging starting on their turn, pun very much intended. Once the player completes their turn, the Angler will target the most recent creature the player summoned to the board with their fish hook, giving you one turn to respond.

The turn after the creature becomes the target of the fish hook the Angler will then steal the creature to their side of the board. This can be devastating for an all-in play on one creature.

Fish Bait

If you defeated the Angler’s first stage, then he’s here to unbalance you with his next bucket of tricks by summoning pales of fish bait in front of every player-controlled creature. If the fish bait is knocked out, they automatically summon powerful great white shark units in their place that will ruin the player’s day.

The trick to prevailing in this stage is to have flying creatures on your side of the board that attack the Angler directly or ensure that you didn’t swarm the board in the first stage. Alternatively, if you have a way of managing the damage of the Great White Shark summons then this stage should be little to no problem.

The Angler can easily catch you off-guard with each stage trying to annoy the player’s board state as much as possible. If the player can find the right balance of defecting the fish hook and bypassing the fish bait, they should be all set for a victory.
