If you haven’t got around to giving Humankind, the strategy game from Amplitude Studio and SEGA, a go yet, this weekend is going to be a good opportunity to get started. Humankind will be available to try for free on Steam for all players, allowing newcomers to try and remake civilisation as one of the game’s 61 cultures.
The free weekend will last from now up to Monday, October 10th, and will give players full access to the game and all its content. If you like what you see, Humankind will also be available for a 50% discount on Steam as part of the SEGA MegaMix Sale. Additional culture packs will also be available for 33% off, so if you’re already enamoured with what Humankind has to offer, now might be the ideal time to spring for the DLC.
Speaking of DLC, the first big expansion is now live for pre-order. Titled Together We Rule, the new expansion is set for release on November 9th, though there’s a 10% discount for pre-purchasing the expansion. The DLC will include The Congress of Humankind, a new inter-empire forum for voting on global doctrine, along with a new building, a new unit family, six new cultures and so much more.
Even if you’re not looking into buying Humankind’s DLC, you should still be looking forward to November 9th, as SEGA and Amplitude Studio have announced a free update, titled Metternich, which will launch alongside the DLC. The free update will add new stealth mechanics to the game, allow for third-party reinforcements during battles, and introduce a range of UI options and improvements.
