Happiest Season Is the Holiday Rom-Com We All Need

Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davies on screen together is exactly the kind of holiday cheer we need.

Happiest Season

Hulu just released the official trailer for their gay holiday rom-com Happiest Season, starring Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davies, bringing us some holiday cheer amidst the blues that is 2020.

What’s It About?

Abby (Stewart) has found the perfect partner in Harper (Davies), and she can’t wait to propose to her during the holidays, while they are visiting with Harper’s family for Christmas. The problem? Harper’s family doesn’t know she’s gay, so they think Abby is just a friend she brought home for the holidays.

Abby finds herself questioning their relationship, and this woman that she loves, due to the magnitude of this secret. Maybe Harper doesn’t really love her if she can’t be honest with her family about their relationship, but then begins to realise that Harper’s withholding is more about her own struggles than it is about Abby.

Stewart and Davies look good together on screen, and it’s about time we got a gay couple at the centre of a holiday rom-com.

Who’s Involved?

Directed by Clea DuVall (who co-wrote the script with Mary Holland), Happiest Season also stars Dan Levy, Alison Brie, Aubrey Plaza, Mary Steenburgen and Victor Garber.

Happiest Season will be released on Hulu come November 25, 2020.
