Stray is the best game in which you play as a ginger cat to date, and that it includes many of the cursed Garfield games that have released over the years. A linear game in which you control a feline in a strange city, Stray isn’t the longest game in the world and can be finished by most in a single day, but it also doesn’t outstay its welcome.
Stray Main Story Length
Stray should take most players between 4-6 hours to complete the story first time around.
We completed the game in 4 hours and 45 minutes, according to the in-game save timer. We tried to do all of the side content that we could find across the 10+ chapters of the game and certainly took our time with it, so you may finish closer to 4 hours if you’re in a rush for your first playthrough.
Stray is also a very easy game with little in the way of difficulty or challenging puzzles. You should be able to finish it having died only a handful of times, though you will actually need to die nine times to unlock a trophy if you’re looking for 100% completion.
Stray 100% Completion Length
To complete everything that Stray has to offer, including unlocking its Platinum trophy, players should expect around ten hours of gameplay.
This is because there are plenty of missable trophies that players will have to use chapter select to try again, such as not getting caught in a specific zone, as well as loads of collectibles, like music sheets and badges.
On top of that, there’s also a trophy called I am Speed that asks players to complete it in just two hours, meaning that players will have to have already played the game once to be able to know where to go and what to do. Players will also have to sleep for an hour to unlock another trophy called Productive Day, which adds to the overall playtime counter.
Ultimately, Stray is the throwback length of game that we’ve come to miss, a linear and still in-depth game that provides plenty of fun and entertainment without being dragged out for playtime. It’s well worth a playthrough, especially if you’ve got a free afternoon.
Stray is available on PC, PS5, and PS4.
