Hideo Kojima Finally Accepts Trophy at Game Awards 2016

Kojima Game Awards 2016

One of the most memorable moments in gaming last year saw Geoff Keighley accept a trophy on behalf of Hideo Kojima at The Game Awards. Konami had (probably) kept him imprisoned in a gulag as punishment for releasing P.T. against their wishes, leading Keighley to criticise Konami in a big way.

Fast-forward to 2016 and a liberated Kojima, now heading up Kojima Productions and Death Stranding, was finally able to pick up his award for Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

Quote of the night? This from Kojima:

“Last year, I thought I lost everything. But I didn’t.”

Keighley also gave a very loving speech to Kojima for all he’s done and been through, proving once and for all that he is the Kaz to Kojima’s Snake. He discussed how he had tried to give the trophy to Kojima for a long time, but the Japanese legend declined until the ceremony, when he finally realised that he didn’t have blood on his hands.

You do you, Hideo.
