Hardspace: Shipbreaker Launching Into Steam Early Access This Summer

Hopefully this game won't be scrapped for parts.

Hardspace: Shipbreaker

Blackbird Interactive, the developers behind Homeworld, have teamed up with Focus Home Interactive to create Hardspace: Shipbreaker, a first person adventure where you scrap spaceships for a living. Check out the debut trailer below.

Shipbreaker, which will be launching on Steam Early Access this Summer, offers true-to-life physics and destruction effects as you work to systematically and methodically destroy derelict ships. The game will launch on Early Access with two classes of spaceships, a host of tools and resources and the first Act of the Story Campaign. Blackbird are planning to add more missions, spaceship classes, daily challenges, leaderboards and modding support to the game, meaning you’ll likely be able to salvage the Millennium Falcon at some point.

Trey Smith, the Creative Director for Hardspace: Shipbreaker, stated the following in a press release: “We identified early in development that we wanted to release Hardspace: Shipbreaker on Early Access. We have a clear vision for what we think the game wants to be but there are still some things we need to figure out and we thought it would be fun to bring in the Early Access community to help us discover these things together.”

Focus Home Interactive’s Chief Operating Officer John Bert also has this to say: “We are delighted to bring Blackbird on board the Focus flagship as we continue to invest in new and innovative games that will delight players for years to come. It’s also fantastic to be able to reveal this game in full at PAX East 2020, the premiere gaming culture convention running yearly in Boston, Massachusetts.”

Focus Home and Blackbird will be hosting a livestream on Twitch tomorrow at 5pm CET, where they’ll be revealing more about Hardspace: Shipbreaker. The game will also be shown at PAX East, just like Larian’s Baldur’s Gate 3. Are you interested in Hardspace: Shipbreak? Let us know in the comments.
