Halo Infinite Will Be At E3 2019, Considered A “Spiritual Reboot”

"Wake me... when you need me."

Halo Infinite

One of the biggest announcements from Xbox’s E3 2018 briefing was Halo: Infinite, the latest iteration of the long running sci-fi shooter series. Unfortunately, aside from a gorgeous teaser trailer and the confirmation that it would running on the new Slipspace engine, new information has been a little bit thin on the ground. However, we won’t have to wait long to hear more, as it’s been confirmed that Halo Infinite will be at E3 2019.

Bonnie Ross, head of 343 Industries who are currently developing Halo, was interviewed by IGN recently, where she confirmed that game director Chris Lee will be present at E3 2019 to showcase the power of the Slipspace Engine. Hopefully, we’ll even get release date, but given the fact we haven’t seen any actual gameplay, we could still be a long way off.

The interview also goes into detail about the creation of the Slipspace Engine, as they move away from the Halo Engine that powered Halo 4 and 5. Seems like the new tech was designed to help improve the development of the series, while supporting the series in future: “The Halo engine is a very technical, engineering-focused engine. It’s super hard for creatives to work in. It’s super hard for a lot of creatives to work in at one time.”

The interview also talks about how Halo Infinite is considered a spiritual reboot of series, hoping to learn from mistakes made in Halo 4’s Multiplayer and 5’s Campaign. Just keep the Forge Mode though, please. While it’s not surprising to see that Halo Infinite will be at E3 2019, we’re still excited to see what 343 Industries has to show in June.
