Guerrilla Games Already Talking About Horizon Zero Dawn Sequel

Horizon: Zero Dawn

You can never have too much of a good thing, so it should be no surprise that Guerrilla Games are already talking about maybe making a sequel to their beloved Horizon Zero Dawn while also working on updating and improving what they currently have.

Speaking to Game Informer about the reception to the game, narrative director John Gonzalez:

“We’ve been absolutely humbled by the players’ response to the story and their emotional connection to Aloy. Should a sequel happen, our number one goal would be to respect that connection by doing our utmost to create a story that resonates just as deeply.”

It’s worth bearing in mind that this shouldn’t at all be taken as confirmation that Horizon Zero Dawn 2 will happen. Considering the success of the new IP, however, they would be silly not to.

As for what we could see, art director Jan-Bart van Beek, wants more robosaurs, as do we all:

“More machines. They are a lot of fun to design, build, animate, and play with. I wish we could have done a hundred. But reality is a harsh mistress; it doesn’t allow you to make hundreds of machines.”

Concerning the current state of Horizon Zero Dawn, the game’s director, Mathijs de Jonge, isn’t happy to just sit on what they have, taking the CD Projekt Red route of fine-tuning through post-launch patches until it’s absolutely right:

“That some parts don’t shine quite as brightly as others is something that was kind of inevitable due to the scope. We are looking closely at any critiques as part of plotting out our plans for the future of Horizon.

“We have some ideas on how we can improve weapon/loadout switching, but I can’t share anything on this yet.”

So, a Horizon Zero Dawn sequel possibly featuring more machines and the current game being tweaked for ease of use. We’re down, especially as we have a lot of love for the adventures of Aloy already:

“Horizon Zero Dawn boasts a stunningly realized vision of the post-post-apocalypse, accompanied by a fascinating and chilling mystery surrounding the fall of civilization and surprisingly deep and strategic combat which combine to create one of the best new IP’s in years.”

Horizon Zero Dawn is available now on PS4.
