Driving games are often considered to be the cornerstones and benchmarks for graphics in gaming, offering incredibly realistic and highly detailed depictions of fast cars and real race tracks. Gran Turismo 7 is certainly no exception to this rule, offering some of the best graphics in the entire genre, with features like ray tracing amplifying the graphics even further. Here’s how to enable ray tracing in Gran Turismo 7.

The PS5 version of Gran Turismo 7 will feature ray tracing, but it’s crucial to note that the ray tracing will only be featured as part of certain modes. The core gameplay will not feature any ray tracing, in order to ensure the best performance possible while still giving the player an awesome visual spectacle. Ray tracing isn’t available at all for PS4 players.

When first starting the game, the player has the choice on whether or not they want the game to focus on frame rate or ray tracing. If the player wants to prioritise frame rate, the game will do its best to ensure Gran Turismo 7 runs as smoothly as possible. Ray tracing effects will either be disabled or simplified, though it’ll still be enabled in certain 3D scenes and in photo mode, so even if you pick that mode, you still get to see the cars looking their prettiest.

As for the ray tracing choice, Ray tracing will be enabled in photo mode, all 3D scenes and even race replays, making your glorious victories and crushing defeats all the more clear. However, ray tracing won’t be available at times “where response times are important”, according to the game’s official online manual. The feature uses a lot of resources, though considering that it’s not present in gameplay, it’s all about how pretty you want everything else to look.

Gran Turismo 7 is available on PS5 and PS4.
