GO Battle League Season 1: Pokémon GO’s New Competitive Mode Revealed

Niantic and The Pokémon Company have today revealed the first season of GO Battle League: the competitive mode for the mobile hit Pokémon GO.

Starting on March 13th, players will be able to take on other Trainers from around the globe based on similar rankings. Rotating between the Great League, the Ultra League, and the Master League, players will have the opportunityto  earn rewards for placing well as they climb up the rankings. To enter, all you need to do is some exercise.

Here are the timings for each league:

The Great League (1500 CP limit) will run from Friday, March 13, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Friday, March 27, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).
The Ultra League (2500 CP limit) will run from Friday, March 27, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Friday, April 10, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).
The Master League (no CP limit) will run from Friday, April 10, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Friday, April 24, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).
– All three leagues will be available from Friday, April 24, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. to Friday, May 1, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. PDT (GMT −7).

After a successful preseason, Niantic will be improving the importance of wins, as well as awards for performance. For playing well during Season 1, Trainers will have the chance to battle Legendary and Mythical Pokémon, which includes Altered Forme Giratina, Darkrai, and Thundurus.

Ahead of Season 1, Niantic will also hold an event to prepare Trainers for what’s to come, and also bonuses for those who participate in the GO Battle League. All the extra details can be found here.

For anyone who thought that Pokémon GO had dwindled since that unforgettable summer in 2016, it looks like Niantic and The Pokémon Company are only really just getting started.
