Very mild spoilers for Red Dead Redemption 2 follow.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a depressing game. The van der Linde gang are on the rocks from the off as they try to find relevance in the dying West with the age of outlaws coming to an end as civilization starts to take shape.
So it’s a welcome surprise when the game basically asks you to get drunk with Lenny (the best gang member, by the way) and just have a whole bunch of dumb fun, including dancing with people who just wanted to beat you up, being so drunk that everyone becomes Lenny, and making a ridiculous getaway from the law.
Getting drunk with Lenny reminds me a lot of a similar highlight in Kingdom Come: Deliverance in which you do plenty of bad things with a priest. I still think Kingdom Come’s drunken montage is better, just because of that scene with the sheep.
It’s pretty immaterial, but it might just be my favourite mission in all of Red Dead Redemption 2. I really wish there were more silly missions tied to the main story, but you can find plenty of them if you talk to Strangers.
From our Red Dead Redemption 2 review:
“Despite it having some wrinkles, Red Dead Redemption 2 introduces more than enough innovations to provide one of the most immersive and captivating open world games ever made.”
