Forza Horizon 5 is finally here, continuing Playground Games’ long-running racing game series that sees a group of like-minded gear and music lovers taking over some countryside and holding the biggest festival known to man. This recent edition takes the action to Mexico, but if racing and adventuring aren’t your strong suits, you might find yourself at the back of the pack. If that happens, you’ll need to change the difficulty.
Here’s how you change your difficulty settings within Forza Horizon 5.
Forza Horizon 5: How Difficulty Works
After completing the short introduction, you’ll be able to freely change your difficulty settings from the pause menu, under settings, but if you ever forget, you can also change your difficulty settings at the start of every race or showcase event via a menu option. Essentially, you’re always in control of how hard you intend pushing yourself.
The difficulty in Forza Horizon 5 comes in many forms. While AI difficulty is a factor, the Forza games offer a wealth of additional options that allow players to truly test the limits of their skills. These options include, but are not limited to, the ability to toggle ABS and traction control off, switching from either a full or braking only driving line, or turning it off completely, having to deal with realistic wear and tear on your tyres, or how much damage the actual chassis of your car takes.
One feature about Forza Horizon 5’s difficulty that makes it worth tinkering with is the fact that the harder the game is, the more credits you’ll receive as a bonus for completing events. Because you can tinker with settings individually, you can create a challenge that works for you, whether that’s realistic driving and physics without assists, but weaker AI, or ruthless AI and all the assists to help conquer them. Also, if FH5 is anything like FH4, the game will prompt you to up the AI difficulty level if you keep stomping through the competition.
Forza Horizon 5 is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X | S.
