Fortnite’s New Sniper May Let You Shoot Through Walls

Fortnite’s in a weird patch right now as it looks to change up the dependence on building, much to the chagrin of its players. The power of the SMGs indicates that Epic are trying to make the game more grounded with the Compact SMG being just about the most overpowered weapon in any competitive shooter.

And it looks like they aren’t finished there, either. To continue their campaign against wood, it looks like Epic will introduce a ‘heavy sniper rifle’ that will be able to pierce through a wall with a single bullet, which doesn’t sound like it will be over the top at all.

According to the info mined by Storm Shield One, the heavy sniper will deliver a robust 157 damage at the expense of a sensible reload time. Still, if you can just sit and patiently plug away at players hiding in their forts, what harm will a little wait do?

This is, frankly, a bonkers move from Epic with this sniper only likely to alienate the playerbase even further. There’s a certain irony in them losing the plot shortly after their first birthday. The Compact SMG is so powerful that it even puts Thanos to shame, and with subtle nerfs to building to contend with, it looks like Fortnite might be losing some of the identity that made it so big.

Stay tuned to see how this plays out. Epic might pull a jetpack move and leave the sniper in “testing” for a while until they can figure out a way to make the thing work without irritating everyone. For now, though, keep spraying your SMGs and hope for the best, people.
