Fortnite v5.10 Brings Cake, Compact SMG, Slurp Juice Buffs & More

Fortnite

To celebrate Fortnite’s first birthday (or at least Save the World’s), Epic Games will today push out the v5.10 update; the game is currently in downtime as the changes are applied. It’s a pretty replete raft of tweaks this time out, featuring celebrations for the special day, a new weapon, and some much needed buffs.

The most substantial introduction is the game becoming birthday themed to tie-in with Fortnite turning one. The Battle Bus has now been adorned to celebrate the day, as well as the map featuring birthday cake that will contribute towards special challenges and also grant +5 health and shields when consumed.

The Compact SMG will be making its debut as the first SMG to be available in both Epic and Legendary variants. It will provide 23-24 base damage with 50 rounds per clip and most likely shred through builds. The meta right now is to pack an SMG as they’re so capable of taking down players and builds in no time at all.

To seemingly counter this, Epic have made it so that newly placed walls have more starting HP. Wood goes from 80 from 100 and stone is increased from 80 from 90. Wood now also has a stronger max health of 200 and metal’s max HP is 500 up from 400, as well as it taking five fewer seconds to fully form.

Slurp Juices will be receiving an interesting buff in v5.10. They will now heal 0.5 health every second, so effectively 1 health every two seconds. However, they will heal up to 75 HP instead of 25; if your HP is full, it will instead focus on shields. This means that if you have full health and consume a Slurp, you will have almost full shield with some patience.

v5.10 brings a whole host of other changes to Fortnite, including some welcome changes to supply drop rates so that you’re less likely to find a Deagle when you need literally anything else. Storm Circles have also been changed so that the wait times are longer and also that the sixth circle will have a moving circle. There are a tonne of other tweaks coming to Fortnite, so for all the details, be sure to check out Epic’s official patch notes.
