Fortnite’s Shotguns Nerfed, Traps Buffed, Jetpacks To Be Removed Soon

Fortnite 1

Fortnite is a game with many expansive playstyles and so many different ways to approach a battle that ends up in a shotgun dual unfolding 90% of the time anyway. Seeking to change this up, citing their findings that many have become too reliant on the weapons, Epic Games have nerfed Fortnite’s shotguns.

Here are the details:

Pump Shotgun
– Headshot multiplier reduced from 2.5 to 2.0
– Damage reduced from 90/95 to 80/85

Tactical Shotgun
Headshot multiplier reduced from 2.5 to 2.0

It’s not a debilitating downgrade, but it may just do enough to steer everyone away from hopping battles. Personally, I’ve always felt that Fortnite’s meta has been far too inclusive of shotguns; if you don’t have a shotgun, you aren’t going to survive too long. Hopefully this will bring some kind of variety. Epic also stated that they wanted to make it clear why you have inflicted less damage with certain shotguns shots, presumably because they’re sick of that 9 damage meme.

Elsewhere in the new update, the spike traps are more powerful than ever. They’ve been buffed to twice what they were after their nonsensical nerf, now doing a damage total of 150. That’s going to make people very scared to walk into any building from now on.

Finally, the once beloved and now very hated jetpacks are becoming vaulted on Monday, June 11 at 8 am. It was always going to be a limited time item, but many already feel that they outstayed their welcome — you can thank skybases for that.

These updates are all part of v4.3 with no patches or downtime required. Read all of the details here.
