Fortnite Season 9 Challenges: Visit The Snow, Jungle & Desert Solar Arrays

Quite the array of challenges this week.

Fortnite Season 9 turns 9 weeks old today and 9 weeks with the well received Fortbyte system. Normally, the more interesting and involved challenges are reversed for the Fortbyte system. Week 9, however, does boast one interesting challenge, a ‘sight seeing’ challenge that requires a little bit of map knowledge to complete.

The solar arrays we need to visit are situated in the desert biome, jungle biome and snow biome. These panels aren’t particularly difficult to spot, being so large that they’re visible on the map if you zoom in (or squint) enough. However, all the panels are located in the ‘new’ (i.e. not the original) biome, so for those of you that joined in later seasons that haven’t fully explored these zones, it might be a bit trickier. To compound things a little further, the biomes have changed since their initial inception as the solar arrays were added in this season (Season 9).

Without further ado, here is a map with all three solar panels circled.

The desert array is circled in blue, the jungle array is circled in red and the snow array is circled in yellow.

As you can guess, by them being all in vastly different biomes, it means they’re all spread out. You’ll need to either land at each location individually in separate matches, or get a really lucky run on a vehicle (I prefer The Baller personally) to get this done in a single match. The following locations are presented in the same order the stages are.

Fortnite Snow Solar Array

The snow array may cause some initial confusion like the desert array. Likely not as bad though, as the player base is probably a little more familiar with it, having had more challenges and changes that take advantage of the area. You will find this array directly south of the Frosty Flight plane hangars (the main two buildings on the airstrip). Located at A8 on the main map’s grid.

Desert Solar Array

The desert array is the one that will likely cause the most confusion. This is because the desert is the oldest of the three biomes in this challenges and hasn’t seen much use in recent history. The addition of these panels may momentarily bamboozle some veterans, especially considering that Paradise Palms isn’t as well travelled as it used to be. The array itself is located directly south of Paradise Palms atop a small hill. I8 on the main map’s grid.

Jungle Solar Array

This is the array most Season 9 players will be familiar with. The jungle biome is the most recent of the three and has had numerous challenges (especially Fortbyte ones) make use of the area, even having a Fortbyte challenge dedicated to visiting this very array. You will find this array on the northern edge of the map near the coast, directly north of Pressure Plant. Located at H2 on the main map’s grid.

Once you’ve visited all three arrays in order (once per match), you’ll have finished this challenge. With the final week of Fortnite Season 9 looming over the horizon, the biggest question on challenge hungry minds is: ‘will the Fortbyte system be coming back’? Epic has moved most of the interesting challenges to that system. Season 10 will be interesting to see how Epic evolves it as it does show a lot of promise as a long-term concept.
