Fortnite Season 6: How To Tame Animals & Wildlife

This game is nuts.

Fortnite tame animals

There’s a lot going on in Fortnite: Season 6, whether that’s all of the new items you can craft or the drastic map changes. One small thing that may have flown under the radar for many is that you can now tame wild animals in Fortnite.

First off, you need the Hunter’s Cloak, a craftable item that’s the basis of a challenge for the first week of the season. You need 2x Animal Bones and 1x Meat to craft the Hunter’s Cloak, which you can get from either boars, wolves, or chickens. We recommend you check out the pen near Colossal Crops, which seems to respawn boars quite often.

Once you have the resources, go to Inventory > Crafting and then select the meat. Press the Craft button and then equip the Hunter’s Cloak once it’s been crafted. Not only will hostile animals now not attack you, but you can also tame them.

Simply wander up to them and hold your interact button (square on PlayStation, for instance) and then the animal will show some love hearts and decide to follow you around, attacking any of your enemies.

The effect seems to last forever, though you will lose your Hunter’s Cloak if you get attacked. Wolves are also the best animals to tame for combat as they actually have brains, but there’s something about the rather dumb boars that’s hard not to love.

At this time of writing, there aren’t many animals to tame in Fortnite, but there will surely be more added over time. It would be awesome if you could tame a wild Peely, if those just started randomly growing in the wild.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
