The Recycler (also known as Junk Gun) is a new weapon added for Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 6 that works unlike most other weapons in the game. Added to the files during v16.10, the Recycler is a unique item with ammo that you yourself can create.

Introduced to coincide with the primal theme of the season, the Recycler is a relatively strong weapon that takes Junk ammo, itself a new ammo type alongside Arrows for the season.

Available in three different rarities, here’s everything you need to know about the Recycler in Fortnite: Chapter 2 – Season 6.

Recycler (Junk Gun) Stats

“Harvest objects for ammo, then spit out densely packed projectiles of junk. Watch out for the shrapnel!”

Here are the stats for the Recycler’s Rare form:

RarityRare
AmmoJunk
Reload Time2 seconds
Magazine Size3
Damage70

Here are the stats for the Recycler’s Epic form:

RarityEpic
AmmoJunk
Reload Time2 seconds
Magazine Size3
Damage79

Here are the stats for the Recycler’s Legendary form:

RarityLegendary
AmmoJunk
Reload Time2 seconds
Magazine Size3
Damage83

The only distinction between all three rarities is that the higher rarities do more damage. It doesn’t seem overpowered at all, as it’s likely to have a low rate of fire, meaning that you won’t be able to just delete players.

The interesting thing about the Recycler is that you can swap your harvesting materials (brick and metal, for instance) for ammo for it. This will likely be something that competitive players won’t take to, but it seems more like a weapon for casual play anyway.

Recycler (Junk Gun) Location

The Recycler is available in-game at this time of writing, it being made available on April 6th after previously being found in the files.

The Recycler will be a fairly common weapon that you should be able to find pretty much everywhere. Expect to find the Recycler in chests, floor loot, and pretty much wherever items usually spawn.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
