Fortnite Season 5 Guide: Week 2 Battle Pass Challenges Walkthrough

Week two of season 5 is upon us and it appears the changes made during the transition to season 5 are here to stay. For a summary of the Battle Pass changes (including how reward tier’s have been changed), you can read last week’s overview here.

Without further ado, below is a list of the seven challenges for week two and how to complete them.

Free Tiers

Fortnite tactical SMG

Deal damage with Assault Rifles to opponents (1000 damage)
Standard damage with X weapon type challenge. Assault Rifle includes any weapon that uses medium ammo apart from the Drum Gun (which is considered an SMG) and Revolver. Despite needing 1000 damage (more than double a lot of gun types), it’s one of the easiest permutations this challenge can offer. Assaults Rifles are prolific, high DPS and accurate. Shouldn’t take too long.

Search 7 Ammo Boxes in a single match (7 boxes)
This is the ‘wildcard’ challenge for the week. Find and interact with seven Ammo boxes in a single match. Ammo Boxes are found everywhere, but finding them isn’t the issue, it’s not dying before you open seven. My advice is to land far away from the Battle Bus to minimise engagements, then just strip an area clean. Make sure you check all the nooks and crannies, Epic loves hiding them there.

Eliminate opponents in Paradise Palms (3 eliminations)
This is the standard ‘eliminate three opponents at Z location’. This week this challenge has been moved into the free tier, whilst the weapon challenge has moved to the Battle Pass tier. The location this week is the new location in the desert, ‘Paradise Palms’. This should be one of the better locations for this challenge. It’s fairly popular (partially because it’s new) and has a lot of loot. There won’t be a shortage of people to kill, but it won’t be as hectic as Tilted Towers. Land here, grab a gun (hopefully an SMG) and go to town. Shouldn’t take more than a few games.

Battle Pass Tiers

Fortnite Dual Pistols

Search Chests in Loot Lake (7 chests)
This is the typical ‘search seven chests in Y location’ challenge. Let me be frank, this challenge is going to be a major pain in the ass. Loot Lake has a low total count of chests and the chests it does have are parsecs from each other. Chests spawn all around the lake perimeter, the surrounding buildings and some spawn on the lake itself (in the house, on small islands and row boats). You’ll be trekking quite a distance to get to each chest and going for the ones in the centre is basically begging for the sweet release of death. Combine all this with the fact that early on in the week a figurative tsunami of players will be landing in the location and you’re in for one time consuming (and frustrating) challenge.

Score a basket on different hoops (5 Hoops)
This it the ‘scavenger hunt’ style challenge for the week, with a small twist. Not only do you need to locate 5 different hoops, you have to score by throwing a basketball into them. If you’re looking for how to complete the challenge, or the location of the basketball hoops, we have a guide detailing all their locations here.

Search between an oasis, rock archway and dinosaurs
This is the typical treasure hunt based challenge. This time we’re searching between an oasis, rock archway and dinosaurs. Considering those three landmarks didn’t exist last season, it shouldn’t be a surprise the treasure is buried in the new desert area. Like the previous weeks, you can skip straight to the treasure if you happen to know where it’s buried. If searching around doesn’t appeal to you, or want your tiers ASAP, we have a guide in the works.

Sniper Rifle eliminations (2 eliminations)
This is the simple ‘kill with X weapon’ challenge you receive every week. Sniper Rifles are the name of the game this week. Like previous seasons, it usually presents itself as the most difficult ‘weapon kill challenge’ of the bunch. Sniper Rifles are not easy to land kills with in this game (sniper bullets fly like the atmosphere is made molasse) and they’re not overly common (with the Hunting Rifle being the most common). There isn’t really a trick to it, other than just find one and try to land your two kills with it (or find someone AFKing). You’ll get it sooner or later.
