The new Starter Pack for Fortnite: Chapter 3 – Season 4 has been revealed as the Checkered Past Pack, which comes with a cheeky nod to the Fortnite community as well as a bunch of cosmetics for a pretty low price.
The Checkered Past Pack is great value for those wanting to collect a bunch of Fortnite cosmetics on the cheap, usually available for much less than they would be if bought separately. Players can nab a skin called Veronika (who’s wearing a “dead game” shirt, a nod to about half of the game’s Twitter replies) along with several additional cosmetics and some V-Bucks.

Veronika is the main attraction for this pack; the “Checkered Past” refers to her hat and overall look. Her t-shirt is also emblazoned with “dead game,” which you’d think is Epic proving the doubters wrong. People have been saying it for years, and yet Fortnite is still doing exceedingly well.
The V-Bucks on offer here are a pretty big draw on their own, as 600 V-Bucks for the price they’re asking is better than most Item Shop. This is a pretty effective way of saving for your next Battle Pass, as the Battle Pass itself doles out V-Bucks.
Fortnite Checkered Past Pack Price
Based on the prices of previous Starter Packs, the Checkered Past Pack will cost $3.99 / £3.19 when released.
Players won’t be able to purchase this pack with V-Bucks, only real money.
However, considering that the pack actually gives you 600 V-Bucks, itself worth more to buy outright than the price of the pack itself, you’re basically getting it for “free,” in a roundabout kind of way.
Fortnite Checkered Past Pack Release Date
The Fortnite Checkered Past Pack will likely land in the Item Shop and platform storefronts on September 26th/27th, 2022. We will update this when we know for sure.
The pack will remain available for purchase throughout the entirety of Season 4, so there’s no massive rush to purchase it.
