Atsushi Ohkubo’s adrenaline-fuelled Fire Force has been one of the biggest triumphs in modern-day anime culture, and just recently with the manga reaching the memorable milestone of 20 million copies sold worldwide, demand for Fire Force: Season 3 has never been higher. Fortunately, the official Twitter account for the anime has confirmed that a third season is soon to follow.

Earlier this year, the Fire Force manga marked its conclusion after a seven-year-long run. The manga series, having 34 volumes in total, has become a global best-seller, much like Ohkubo’s other manga series, Soul Eater. As the source material for Fire Force remains copious, it’s safe to assume that the anime will be around for a long time.

With Fire Force: Season 3 formally greenlit, here’s a quick look at everything we know so far, including when it will release.

When Is Fire Force: Season 3 Coming Out?

Regrettably, the announcement of Fire Force: Season 3 wasn’t accompanied by a definite release date for the new season. But seeing how quickly the anime has been renewed, it’s likely the third season will air in the summer or fall of 2023.

Considering that the first two seasons of Fire Force were 24 episodes each and that the second season left off around chapter 174 of the manga, the remaining 113 chapters should need about the same number at least. It’s also possible that the publisher Kodansha might want to cap the anime off with a movie, which definitely seems like a good call to make considering the huge fan base of the franchise.

No trailer has been released for Fire Force: Season 3, but we speculate that David Production, the first two seasons’ animation studio, will again be helming the next installment. David Production, best known for JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, was commended for its flashy animation style, and soothing sound design for Fire Force. Though we can’t ascertain that the studio will be returning to the project, if it does, it’ll be a sigh of relief for die-hard fans of the anime.

What Is Fire Force: Season 3 About? (Spoiler Alert)

The second season of Fire Force ended with the death of Special Fire Force Company 4’s Captain Hague. The aftermath leaves most of the Fire Force companies in disarray and thinking of strategies to counteract the ever-growing threat of the White-Clad.

The third season is going to kick off with Obi’s Rescue arc, which is the sixteenth arc of the manga series. Captain Obi of Company 8 is arrested by White-Clad members impersonating soldiers of the Tokyo Army. Ultimately, the White-Clad plan on making Obi an Infernal, but due to a sudden Adolla Link that Shinra has, he promptly sets out with Joker to bring Captain Obi back.

We don’t know for sure if Fire Force: Season 3 will be the final season, still, it’s a gratifying feeling to know that the franchise is going to return with a livelier than ever new entry.
