Finn Balor Returns to WWE On RAW After WrestleMania

Finn Balor RAW return

After being on the shelf for months following an injury at the hands of Seth Rollins, the first ever Universal Champion, Finn Balor, returned to WWE on the RAW after WrestleMania last night.

Introduced as the mystery partner to Rollins after Chris Jericho was taken out by Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe before their match, Balor eventually hit the Coup de Grâce on Owens for the win.

A huge pop greeted the 35-year old Irishman for his first televised WWE appearance since needing surgery on a shoulder dislocation and labrum tear after winning the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. Overshadowed by the crowd’s displeasure at the design of the belt itself, the two will no doubt go at it again down the road with whispers of a Balor heel turn gaining traction.

This wasn’t Balor’s first WWE match in months, however. After appearing at an NXT event to help Shinsuke Nakamura out of a bind, he also teamed with Jericho and Sami Zayn in tag team action to defeat Owens, Samoa Joe and Triple H near the start of March.

Where Balor goes from here remains to be seen, especially with the terribly coined “Superstar Shake-Up” taking place next week, which will see wrestlers from RAW and Smackdown trading places. It’s unlikely to see Balor jumping ship, however. Once Lesnar finishes his likely program with Roman Reigns, expect Balor to chase the title he was forced to rescind.
