Final Fantasy VII Rebirth | Square Enix | February 29th, 2024 | PS5 |
The Mythril Mines of Final Fantasy VII get the standard expansion that other areas have received in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. However, despite the area having more depth and character building, you may find that it’s tough to navigate, especially after the team gets separated. Read on for instructions on how to make your way out with the unlikely pair of Barret and Red XIII.
Starting from the save bench, head to the left and up as Barret. You’ll see a lot of optional crystals that you can shoot along the way. Whether you shoot most of them is up to you, but they do leave behind valuable resources, so it’s recommended. Next, you’ll find yourself heading down some steps in the rock and then running up a rocky ramp with some enemies on it before reaching an area that looks like a dead end.
Here’s where it starts to get tricky. There are some handholds on the wall, but they’re tough to see, and they start in a tiny alcove that’s tucked into the wall. Climb up the 12 or 13 handholds to the next area. You can also stop along the way for some resources on an outcropping to the right.
Now, hug the right wall and shoot the crystals by the (again) barely visible handholds before climbing up. There are other crystals in the area to break, which is sort of what makes it so confusing, as you don’t know which ones are clearing your way to the next path forward.
Continue running forward, and you’ll pass some flying enemies as you enter a darker area of the mine. Keep heading onward, and you’ll pass a treasure chest and two snake enemies. When you reach the lever, pull it to switch the tracks and then push the minecart to the path forward on the right. You can climb it to reach the next level.
Proceed through the enclosed cave, and you’ll notice a boulder to the right that you can destroy with Barret’s machine gun. This will reunite you with the party, but you’ve still got some work to do. Head to the left and shoot the ladder to make it drop. Climb up, hit the lever, and move through the gate. Shoot the boulder on the bridge and then head back for the minecart to push it across.
When you reach the next lever, push the cart as far as you can to the right. Now, flip the switch so you can continue on. Follow the track until you can push the cart off, opening a path for your party. In return, they’ll open the gate from where the minecart started and pave the way for your exit. Just be ready for a boss battle on the way out. With this tough area cleared, you’re now free to explore the Junon Region in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is available now on PS5.
