Far Cry 5 Is Already A Massive Sales Success

Who says that controversy doesn’t sell? Far Cry 5 has swaggered its way to the top of the UK sales charts to become the franchise’s most successful launch to date and 2018’s most successful launch.

In fact, Far Cry 5 has been such a hit that it has even outstripped Assassin’s Creed: Origins and Ghost Recon: Wildlands during their debut weeks. Considering how highly anticipated Origins was, the first mainline AC game in two years, the accomplishment is even more impressive.

Here’s the chart (courtesy of Chart-Track) in full:

1. Far Cry 5
2. FIFA 18
3. Sea of Thieves
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
5. PUBG
6. Call of Duty: WW2
7. A Way Out
8. Assassin’s Creed Origins
9. Forza Motorsport 7
10. Grand Theft Auto V

There may come a day when people stop buying GTA V, but it evidently is not this day. It’s good to see A Way Out clinging on, as well as Sea of Thieves staying relatively relevant — that game needs constant updates and a fanbase to get to where it needs to be.

Have you played Far Cry 5 yet? I reviewed it, and while it has some major issues, is still a mighty fun experience:

“The gunplay is as meaty and satisfying as it’s always been and the promotion of exploration has never been more keenly felt — anyone who’s ever enjoyed a Far Cry game will likely feel right at home here. It isn’t without its faults -some glaring, some admissible- but when you compile everything Far Cry 5 is and could become in the future with its Arcade, it’s a scintillating package.”
