Fairy Tail's finally back, well at least, that's what they're saying

Fairy Tail, Hiro Mashima’s iconic shōnen anime, had been around for nearly 10 years when it finally concluded in 2019, and ever since then, a gaping hole can be found in the hearts of every long-time fan. Fortunately, during a live stream in September 2021, Mashima confirmed that a sequel anime, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest, is already in the works.

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest is the next installment in the fan-favorite series. It’s set to be adapted directly from the manga of the same name which serves as a sequel to the original story. Even though a lot of time has passed since the announcement, we haven’t heard much about anime, so if you’re wondering the when and where of it, then take a look below.

When Is Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Coming Out?

We actually don’t know when Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest will air because it does not have a release date at the moment. It’s surprising considering that the anime was revealed in late 2021, and years later, it still hasn’t been announced when fans will get to witness it.

Hiro Mashima actually expressed a bit of regret on the release date. He said that looking back, he realized that 2021 was too soon to announce that the sequel was under development because there’s still a lot of work left, so while the anime is definitely coming, don’t expect to catch it before 2024 at the earliest.

What Is Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest About? (Spoiler Alert)

Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest picks up one year after the events in the original story. Natsu, Gray, Lucy, and the rest of the squad head to the continent of Guiltina when they take up the legendary “100 Years Quest”.

Their goal? To seal away the infamous Five Dragon Gods who are rumored to be stronger than any foe the gang has encountered so far. Aside from a handful of new supporting characters, get ready to witness some mind-boggling twists and turns.

Which Studio Is Making Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest?

Over the years, the original Fairy Tail anime went through a few production changes, notably from Studio Satellite to Studio Bridge, and CloverWorks (Horimiya, Spy x Family). Besides these, the only studio that has worked on the series since it began is A-1 Pictures (Blue Exorcist).

Accordingly, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest should be animated by A-1 Pictures once again at the very least, even if other studios aren’t confirmed.

Where Will Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest Be Aired?

While it’s very difficult to deduce where Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest will air, it’s extremely likely that Crunchyroll will have the anime available since it also has all previous seasons of the series streaming right now. Netflix is also another place that could have the new series available, and as for Funimation, it may be a region-based availability, but more on that later.

We’re still too far out from Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest’s release, so the time isn’t right to start getting excited. The manga chapters have received a lot of praise, and hopefully, that’s some consolation for now, but while you wait for more of Natsu’s adventures, here’s a look at a few best anime of recent times.
