Some good news for those awaiting the release of Piranha Bytes’ upcoming fantasy RPG ELEX: while it has been available for pre-order on Steam for a while, the game now has an official release date in mid-October.
Publisher THQ Nordic released the details with the below dramatic cinematic trailer, which gives us a tantalising glimpse into the journey players will take.

An additional tidbit of good news for the collectors amongst us: there is a collector’s edition. This edition includes a 10” figurine of an Alb Mage, a 2” combat drone amulet, a cloth map of Magalan, an artbook and the game’s original score on CD.
ELEX is set on the decayed world of Magalan, a planet struck by a meteorite that introduced the eponymous substance to the surviving citizens. Split into factions, all of whom have their own uses for the ELEX, players step into the shoes of Jax. An ex-member of the planet’s most powerful faction, the Albs, Jax sets out to discover why he was left for dead by his former comrades.
As I’ve said before, I consider this to be an incredibly promising game with heaps of potential. The world Jax occupies is seamless and gorgeous, with a story that promises intrigue and depth. With four factions to choose from, a multitude of quests and a planet crawling with enemies to fight, ELEX has all the ingredients for a hit and, to be honest, who doesn’t want to fly around with a jetpack kicking all the butts?
ELEX is set to release October 17th 2017 on PlayStation 4
