The world of Elden Ring is filled with hidden bosses to find and battle. One such creature you’ll likely be encountering in the early section of your journey is Flying Dragon Agheel. With that fact firmly in mind, here’s a quick rundown on how to beat Flying Dragon Agheel in Elden Ring.

Unsurprisingly, Agheel can be found in the center of Limgrave’s Lake Agheel, which is named after the massive dragon.

When you first arrive at Lake Agheel, you’ll see a small procession of Agheel’s worshippers standing at the center of the lake with torches. To make the dragon appear, simply ride or run close to them.

Not too close, though. Agheel will fly in and incinerate the group, triggering your first encounter with him. If you lose or run away, Agheel will simply wander the lake looking for his next meal. If you want to take Flying Dragon Agheel out in Elden Ring, here are some tips for how to do so.

First of all, you might want to level up your armaments or your character stats, as Agheel is quite strong. Next, you’ll need to have found your Spectral Steed, as defeating Agheel is best done while mounted. Finally, make sure to find the nearby Stake of Marika on the edge of the lake, which will let you start there should you fail.

Flying Dragon Agheel has five or six primary attacks. He will swipe with his claws at you, snap at you with his head, or try to burn you with his flames. His flames will either come in a burst that slowly tracks across the field or in a massive blast, should he fire his barrage while airborne. He also has a slam attack that he will land with from time to time and a tail whip that he occasionally employs.

Fortunately, all of these moves can be outmaneuvered with the speed of your Spectral Steed. For the flame attacks, simply ride out and around them. If you’re lucky, he might even continue firing while you run up and smash him in the heels with your weapon of choice. This will allow you to get a few extra licks in before you ride off to safety. Don’t get too greedy, though, as he’s always quick to retaliate with a strike of his own.

With enough damage, Agheel will sometimes even fall over. This is a common attribute for big enemies in Elden Ring, like the giants you’ll see every so often. In this case, you can go in for a critical hit but, depending on how far you are from the dragon, it might not be worth it. The window is only open for a few seconds, and by the time you get close and dismount, Agheel might have already recovered.

If you’re a magic user, you’ll have an even easier time of it. Really, Agheel is at his most dangerous when you’re close to him so the more range you can use in terms of your attacks, the safer you are. Just be ready for more fire attacks than usual and watch for his aerial stomp.

This strategy holds true for the entire fight. Just ride up, take a few quick strikes on him, and then ride away to safety. He telegraphs all of his attacks so they can easily be avoided, especially if you’re far enough away when they come. With a bit of patience and some memorization of Agheel’s patterns, you’ll have another of Elden Ring’s bosses taken down in no time and a precious Dragon Heart for your trouble
