Cleanrot Knight is an optional boss in Elden Ring that can be found deep in Stillwater Cave in the Liurnia of the Lakes region.

As far as boss fights go in Elden Ring, Cleanrot Knight himself isn’t too tricky. It’s actually the environment that will give you the most concern as the battle arena is almost entirely poisonous. The longer you stay in the “water”, the higher your poison meter will rise until you are eventually poisoned and start losing a lot of health very quickly.

To counteract the poisoning, stay on the small islands and bridges. If you do start getting poisoned, use the Cure Poison incantation from Brother Corhyn at Roundtable Hold, or buy Neutralizing Boluses from the Nomadic Merchant to the south-east of Coastal Cave for 600 runes. Players can also equip specific armour to slow the build-up of poison.

In terms of the Cleanrot Knight himself, he has a fairly limited moveset that mainly consists of easily predicted lunges with his spear, which glows brightly at its most powerful. You can dodge out of the way of these without much fuss as they’re so obvious, though beware that he will impale you and deal huge damage while also inflicting scarlet rot should his major attacks land.

The best way of dealing with Cleanrot Knight in Elden Ring is to summon the Lone Wolf Ashes, which should be fairly strong at this point in the game if you’ve been doing spirit tuning. With the wolves distracting him, you can simply light him up with ranged attacks from either your Glintstone Staff, crossbow, or general magic attacks to put an end to him in no time without worrying about the poison. Even though the attacks from the wolves will put his guard up, you can attack him from the back with ranged quite easily.

Players will earn 3,300 runes and the Winged Sword Insignia for defeating Cleanrot Knight in Stillwater Cave. Winged Sword Insignia is one of the best talismans in the game as it improves your attack power with each successive hit.

Elden Ring is available on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X & S, and Xbox One.
