EA To Reveal New Need For Speed Title At Gamescom

Need for Speed: Underground 2 Remake, please?

Need for Speed Payback

During the recent EA earnings call, which also saw the announcement of an upcoming in-game event in Apex Legends, it was revealed that they will be fully announcing the latest Need For Speed title during Gamescom, and it’s scheduled to launch this year.

The new Need For Speed game was officially announced back in May, with both EA and developers Ghost Games stating that it would “revitalise the street racing versus cops fantasy at the core of the franchise”. Ghost Games have also noted that the game will focus on cars and customisation, so it would appear that the Need For Speed series is going back to basics, which is great.

The earnings call also made note of a Plants vs Zombies shooter title that will also come out this year, with the likely candidate being Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 3. Perhaps that will also get revealed at Gamescom, though EA never properly mentioned that. Either way, we’re cautiously optimistic about the potential of a Need For Speed game. Please just be Underground 2 levels of good.
