So, we already knew two things about For Honour (fuck you, America): that it’s got a crazy sophisticated hack ‘n slash combat system and that it’s basically Deadliest Warrior on a grand scale.
Well, now we’ve had our first taste of campaign gameplay, and it seems more like some weird cross pollination of Dynasty Warriors, Dark Souls and Mortal Kombat, if you can grasp such a concept. In the footage shown, it was a Viking invasion of a feudal Japanese fortress (which… what…), with the player character axing his way through a small army of katana strapped warriors.
The game has previously been described as a ‘shooter with swords’, but judging from this new footage, it’s more like someone tacked a third person shooter angle onto Diabolo. No news as yet on when the game will drop, but it looks fairly polished, so I’d hazard a guess that we’ll be seeing it in under 12 months.
