Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot Trailer Shows Off The Progression System

Goku's appetite will be put to good use.

Kakarot game

A three and a half minute trailer for the upcoming Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot gives us a look at the in-depth character progression system. Although the game will have a strong focus on action, we can see that Kakarot will still feature immersive RPG elements, which should equal a healthy mix of different gameplay styles.

Anyone who knows anything about the Dragon Ball franchise will probably not be surprised to learn that one of the ways that Goku can level up is by eating, seeing as he’s known for having a monstrous appetite. Other ways to level up include the usual process of gaining experience points by defeating enemies, finding collectible orbs, and by posting achievements on community boards, which will allow you to unlock community skills. Similarly, you’ll also need to visit training grounds to unlock new abilities in your skill tree, so it looks like this is a game which will be keeping you busy for some time.

Although there have been a ton of Dragon Ball games released over the years, Kakarot stands out from the pack due to the fact that it lets you fly across a huge open world. The visual style also looks reminiscent of the original anime series, which should keep fans happy. Developer CyberConnect2 are mainly known for their work in the Naruto franchise, but it looks like they have also done a great job with Dragon Ball.

We’ll know for sure if Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot lives up to the hype when Bandai Namco releases the game on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 17, 2020. That’s in less than two weeks, so fans don’t have too long to wait before they can experience what looks like it could be one of the best games in the series.
