Dr Stone

Back in 2019, Dr. Stone made its debut in the anime industry. Created by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi, it features a post-apocalyptic world where humanity was petrified by a mysterious light. Years later, Senku Ishigami and Taiju Oki were suddenly freed from their petrified state. Determined to restore civilization, they set out to unravel the mystery behind the catastrophic event. But will they finally find the source of the petrification in Dr. Stone: Season 3?

Dr. Stone’s previous seasons focused on the Kingdom of Science’s establishment and their war with the Empire of Might. The fans haven’t received an explanation for the petrification, which is why they’re looking forward to another season. Right after Season 2 finished airing, the third season for Dr. Stone was announced.

Given the success of the last two seasons, Season 3 being greenlit was inevitable. There are also over 150 chapters left to animate, so the anime still has a lot of material to cover. Manga readers are also confident that everyone will be in for a treat this upcoming season. That begs the question, when will Dr. Stone: Season 3 be released?

When Is Dr. Stone: Season 3 Coming Out?

Dr. Stone: Season 3 is set to air from April 6th, 2023. The English dub will release on April 20th.

TMS Entertainment will oversee the production of Season 3. They’re known for animating other anime, such as Case Closed, Lupin the Third, and Fruits Basket. TMS Entertainment is also the studio that animated the previous seasons of Dr. Stone.

The studio produced 24 episodes and 11 episodes for Seasons 1 and 2, respectively, with Season 3’s episode count yet to be revealed. However, based on the length of the upcoming arc, Season 3 will likely have 20 or more episodes. But what is the next season all about?

What Is Dr. Stone: Season 3 About? (Spoiler Warning)

Season 3, titled New World, will adapt the Age of Exploration arc and possibly the Treasure Island arc. Both storylines cover Chapters 83 to 138 of the manga, picking up where Season 2 left off. This saga will follow our beloved characters as they travel the world to find the source of the petrification.

The third season will show both the Kingdom of Science and the Empire of Might uniting to build a ship. Their goal is to reach the opposite side of the Earth in hopes of finding whatever caused humanity’s petrification. In doing so, you’ll be introduced to new characters along with another post-petrification community.

This saga is also named Source of Petrification, so several questions will be answered this season. Furthermore, the Kingdom of Science will also make a lot of new discoveries that can help in their advancements. This season’s events will move the plot forward as it reveals the mysteries of their post-apocalyptic, petrified world.

If you’ve only been following the anime, then you wouldn’t want to miss the next season of Dr. Stone. To catch up on the anime’s events, you can watch Dr. Stone via Crunchyroll or get yourself a Blu-ray copy.
