Doomfist’s Gauntlet Has Disappeared From Overwatch’s Numbani Map

Overwatch

For the sake of the insanity of all Overwatch players, Blizzard are seemingly hyping up their next Hero reveal in a much more straightforward way than the notorious ARG debacle for Sombra. Whereas the hacker’s reveal was gradual and far too long-winded, it’s almost hard to miss the latest updates for who’s coming next.

If you play on the Numbani map on the PTR, you’ll see two huge changes. First up, the spawn room for the attacking team now shows the aftermath of a terrorist attack with a crater in one of the walls. More interestingly, however, Doomfist’s gauntlet is now missing from the payload with the container smashed to pieces.

Speculation has been rife that Doomfist would be the next playable character, and while this latest update points to that, Jeff Kaplan said it will “not be who you think it is.” Instead, it looks like it might be Efi Oladele, who was recently teased in a fake interview in which she had she had to be somewhere. It looks like that somewhere was Numbani.

However, as she is only eleven years old, it’s unlikely that Blizzard will make us kill children (even if they are potentially supervillains). A robotic spider was recently shown in screenshots, so perhaps Bastion might be about to get the Moriarty he deserves.
