Demon Turf: Fredo Boss Fight Guide

I know it was you, Fredo.

You might look at Demon Turf and think it’s all about platforming and speedrunning, and while those two things are certainly true, you’ll also have to contend with bosses which aim to take you down a peg or two. With Demon Turf’s five bosses to defeat, you’ll certainly have your work cut out for you, but perhaps none will give you as much trouble as the first boss, Fredo. Here’s everything you need to know about how to take him down.

How Boss Fights In Demon Turf Work

Firstly, let’s outline how boss fights operate in Demon Turf. Players enter a new world, known as a Turf, and must complete all 7 levels in order to unlock the boss fight. Once unlocked and you attempt it, you receive a new platforming ability, the first being a hookshot, followed by a wheel that grants you a speed and sick drift skills, a glide that lets you cross larger distances, and finally the ability to slow time in a small area.

Considering the fact that you unlock each ability before four out of five of the game’s boss fights, those fights in particular act like tutorials for the ability in question. The first boss fight against Fredo is no exception, as without the hookshot, you don’t stand a chance. Here’s the guide on how to make Fredo regret taking you on.

Demon Turf – Fredo Boss Guide: Stage One

After completing the initial tutorial section for this level and getting to grips with the hookshot, you’ll be fighting against Fredo, who spends this stage circling the edge of the arena. In this stage, he’ll vary between spitting bombs at you, pounding the floor and causing a radial shockwave, or sweeping his hand across the arena in an attempt to swipe you into the oblivion below.

In order to beat Fredo, you’ll need to use your hookshot to remove his gauntlets, which you can only do after he’s either pounded the ground or swept his hand. Once you’ve dodged those attacks, you can get close to his gauntlets and hit the ability button, holding it down until that particular part of the gauntlet has been removed. Both the left and right gauntlet have multiple pieces to remove that can be easier to get at depending on if Fredo has used a ground pound or sweep. Just keep dodging and hookshotting until you’ve removed a gauntlet.

Demon Turf – Fredo Boss Guide: Stage Two

Stage two plays out in much the same way to the first one, in the sense that you’re still trying to dodge attacks and remove Fredo’s gauntlet. The difference here is that Fredo starts the phase by destroying sections of the arena, making it somewhat harder to navigate. Fredo also swaps out his bomb spitting attack for a homing rocket, which can be somewhat tough to avoid, but moving to one side then quickly switching to another is usually enough.

Demon Turf – Fredo Boss Guide: Stage Three

The final stage of the Fredo boss fight sees the big pig lad battering the arena you’ve been standing on, destroying it completely. Fortunately, some grapple points appear around the outside to transport you to higher platforms, allowing you to carry on with the third stage of this fight.

This last stage sees Beebz’s fighting on one of these island platforms, with small pig enemies spawning on each corner. On top of that, Fredo slowly encroaches on the island while firing more homing rockets. The rockets are more threatening in this stage, as punching pigs off the edge leaves Beebz at a bit of a speed disadvantage. Charging punches to full power is often a death sentence because of those rockets, so be careful. Once Fredo reaches the platform, he’ll smash it to pieces, but by that point, grapple points will have appeared on the left and right side. Use them to reach the next platform, where you’ll have to dodge rockets and grapple away for a second time.

On the third and final platform, you’ll face a stronger wave of pigs while Fredo stands across the arena from you, looking all menacing. After dealing with the pigs, Fredo will start to charge up a massive trash ball attack, but you’re able to travel across the arena to stop him. Platforms will appear in the middle, and you’ll have to use a combination of jumps, dashes and hookshots in order to reach the final platform above Fredo. From here, you just need to hookshot the trash ball to drop it on Fredo’s head and get the win.
