Deathloop

Arkane Lyon’s Deathloop showed us how well their signature Dishonored gameplay works with time loop elements. Its balance between action, stealth, and puzzles made for an engaging game that was positively received by most players worldwide. With how successful it was, you might wonder if Arkane Lyon will develop a sequel in the form of Deathloop 2.

Considering the endings of the first game, it’s intriguing to see how Arkane Lyon will handle Colt and Julianna’s return if they make Deathloop 2. Will Arkane make Deathloop 2 a prequel? Or will Deathloop 2 move forward with a new set of characters? If you want to find out, stick around as we go through everything you should know about Deathloop 2.

When Is Deathloop 2 Coming Out?

Currently, there’s still no official release date for Deathloop 2. Furthermore, neither Arkane nor Bethesda has confirmed if Deathloop 2 will be made in the first place. However, a past leak may’ve confirmed a potential expansion or sequel for Deathloop.

In a YouTube livestream, the voice actor for Colt, Jason Kelley, said that Arkane Studios is still sometimes hiring them under codenames. This means that both he and Ozioma Akagha (voice actress of Julianna) might still be under contract with Arkane Studios and are currently working on a project with a codename.

Moreover, Kelley also once posted a selfie on Twitter with the caption: “Oooooooooo! Cannot wait to share what this one is. #backinthelab #voiceacting #games #vo #deathloop #coltjustcolt #baftagames”. The photo shows him in a recording studio, and considering the hashtags, this might hint at new Deathloop content. However, Kelley elaborated further that he was recording a new title, and that’s all he could say due to signing an NDA. We’ll have to wait and see if he was telling the truth or misdirecting the fans to avoid spoiling the game.

What Could Deathloop 2 Be About?

Since there’s no news regarding it, it’s unclear what Deathloop 2 will be about. If it does get made, Arkane Lyon could choose a canon ending out of the three endings of the first game and then go from there. It’s also possible that Deathloop 2 will’ve new characters undergo the anomaly to avoid conflicts with the previous game.

Another possibility is that we might see a Deathloop x Dishonored crossover since it’s been confirmed that the two are set in the same universe.

What Platforms Could Deathloop 2 Be On?

There’s a high possibility that Deathloop 2 will only be available on PC and Xbox. In September 2020, Microsoft acquired ZeniMax for $7.5 billion in cash. With Arkane Studios and Bethesda under ZeniMax, we’ll most likely see their future titles, including Deathloop 2, released as Xbox exclusives.

Who Could Develop Deathloop 2?

Assuming it does get made, Deathloop 2 will stay in the hands of Arkane Studios, specifically Arkane Lyon. It’s important to note that Arkane Studios is split into two branches, one based in Lyon and the other in Austin. Arkane Lyon is the one responsible for Deathloop, while Arkane Austin made separate titles, such as Prey and Redfall.
