Dead Island Lives Again – As A Free-To-Play Mobile Game

Dead Island Survivors

Deep Silver have just announced the full release of one newest instalment in one of their more popular franchises with Dead Island: Survivors, which is available for free right now on Android and after already finding a home on iOS devices.

Developed by Deep Silver Fishlabs, Dead Island: Survivors is a base-building game and you should stop me if this is sounding at all familiar. It’s not a million miles away from Dead Island: Epidemic, a strange MOBA hybrid which was shut down in 2015.

Here’s the synopsis:

“Dead Island: Survivors offers action-packed gameplay mixing melee combat and trap laying with tactical base building and fun card collecting. It is set in a beautiful albeit zombie-plagued game world in close vicinity to the island of Banoi. Created with true love for the genre, the content-rich title features a wealth of different heroes, zombies, weapons, traps, consumables, levels and missions. Fans of the previous Dead Island games will be delighted to discover all kinds of tie-ins, Easter eggs and references as they play.”

Early reports indicate that Survivors belongs in the “freemium” category as your progress is constantly halted by restrictions and it also contains suitcases, which are essentially loot boxes. I have yet to play the game for myself, so expect some coverage on it soon.

This isn’t the Dead Island news many would have been waiting for. Dead Island 2 has been on the backburner for the longest time after being stuck in development hell with no significant updates on it in over a year. Hopefully it isn’t as dead as the zombies themselves.
