Former UFC champion Daniel Cormier will be serving as the special guest referee for Matt Riddle and Seth Rollins’ battle in the Fight Pit at Extreme Rules. This is a huge get for WWE and only adds to the intrigue surrounding this sequel bout between ‘The Original Bro’ and his nemesis.
In the past, Cormier has been engaged in talks with WWE to begin a career in the pro wrestling realm, however those plans never came to fruition. His involvement in this very personal feud could naturally lead to a match down the line, but for now, a special guest referee spot is a brilliant way of adding some extra mainstream flair to the typically lacklustre pay-per-view.
WWE are already hard at work promoting their special guest and alluded to Cormier potentially being at Monday Night RAW this week, where more details will be announced for the Fight Pit.
Extreme Rules airs next Sunday, October 8th on the WWE Network.
