The CW Resurrecting Constantine In Animated Form

Constantine animated series

DC continue to conquer the world of TV as we know it, with their latest development being a return of their cancelled Hellblazer adaptation Constantine. Sort of.

Matt Ryan will once again return as the chain-smoking, trench-coat wearing Liverpudlian occult detective, but instead of being a live-action TV show, this new version is gonna be an animated web-series. Greg Berlanti and David S. Goyer are both onboard as producers, and IGN debuted some artwork.

The CW announced at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that this new incarnation of Constantine will air on CW Seed, which is also home to DC’s Vixen. Five or six ten minute episodes are planned to air during the 2017-2018 TV season, and like its live-action counterpart, there’ll be connections to the Arrowverse, although a direct crossover is apparently unlikely.

Ryan is also voicing Constantine in the R-rated animated film Justice League Dark, which comes our way on January 24.
