Code Geass: Season 3 – Everything You Need To Know

Code Geass

In the late 2000s, Code Geass laid down its memorable legacy after a 50-episode run. Thanks to Studio Sunrise, we got to follow the story of Lelouch vi Britannia and his uprising as the vigilante, Zero. His legend would then be completed in Season 2, which made fans accept that Code Geass: Season 3 isn’t likely to happen.

However, multiple Code Geass projects have been released since its original run. This includes four movies, three of which are recaps, set in an alternate timeline known as the Resurrection timeline. With the amount of Code Geass titles being released, fans wonder whether or not Season 3 will be released after all. If you’re also curious, here’s everything you need to know about Code Geass: Season 3.

When Is Code Geass: Season 3 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, there are no official announcements on Code Geass: Season 3’s release date. In fact, there’s a high chance that Season 3 will not be made at all. Season 2’s finale served as the perfect conclusion for Lelouch’s character, which is why most fans are okay without having a third season.

On the other hand, the Resurrection timeline is an entirely different story. Studio Sunrise has announced a new project called Code Geass: Z of the Recapture, set after the events of the Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection movie. Do note this title isn’t the same as Code Geass: Season 3 since it’s set in a different timeline from the original anime. Although the project has been confirmed, there are no updates regarding a release date.

What Could Code Geass: Season 3 Be About?

With the previous season’s ending and no announcements on a third season, it’s unclear what Code Geass: Season 3 will be about. If they decide to produce Season 3, they may incorporate the Resurrection movie into Code Geass’ original timeline. The alternate timeline only made a few changes to the original one, so it wouldn’t be that difficult to adapt the events of Resurrection.

However, that route can make the franchise repetitive, so they might tell a different story altogether.

Which Studio Could Make Code Geass: Season 3?

Sunrise has always been the studio that handled anything Code Geass-related, so it’ll probably be the same for Season 3. They’re also known for animating other popular anime, such as Gundam, Cowboy Bebop, and Inuyasha, so Code Geass: Season 3 is in safe hands.

Still, since they haven’t given any updates, a studio change isn’t out of the question. For that to happen, Sunrise would have to give up the rights for Code Geass since it’s an original anime they created on their own.

Where Could Code Geass: Season 3 Be Aired?

Assuming it does get released, Code Geass: Season 3 will likely be available on Crunchyroll, Hulu, Funimation, and Amazon Prime Video. You can stream the first two seasons of Code Geass on these platforms, so they’re all safe bets as potential streaming websites for Season 3.

However, the availability of these platforms depends on your region, so you may need to get a VPN to watch Code Geass: Season 3.
