CD Projekt Red Announce The Witcher: Monster Slayer For Mobile

Pokémon GO kill some monsters.

The Witcher

CD Projekt Red have announced a brand new Witcher game is on the horizon. It’s called The Witcher: Monster Slayer, and honestly, it looks a lot like Pokémon GO meets dark fantasy RPG, which isn’t necessarily a bad mash-up when you think about it. Check out the trailer below.

Monster Slayer is being developed by Spokko, a company that’s been formed as part of the CD Projekt Red family. A prequel to the events of the game, players take on the mantle of a freshly minted Witcher, exploring the land to hunt and kill various monsters. Of course, the land you’re exploring is the real world, as Monster Slayer is an augmented reality game.

The full release will include story quests inspired by the series, “console-grade” visuals and the ability to craft various items and tools to gain the upper hand once you’ve found your tracked monster, fighting them in first-person AR mode. The Witcher: Monster Slayer might be just be a worthy Pokémon GO. Monster Slayer is coming to both iOS and Android, with more details to be revealed ahead of its launch later this year.
