Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Hits #1 In First UK Sales Chart Of 2020

There is no stopping the Call of Duty franchise.

Modern Warfare

The first UK game sales chart of 2020 has made its way online, and you probably won’t be surprised to see Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in the top spot. Specific platforms and sales figures were not specified, although Modern Warfare has now surpassed $1 billion in revenue across all platforms, so a number one spot was practically guaranteed.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order nabbed the number two spot, a slight increase from its position at number three last week. EA are probably glad to see Fallen Order continuing to fare well, especially since they spent nearly half a billion dollars to acquire developer Respawn Entertainment. The next position on the chart also went to an EA-published title, with FIFA 20 coming in at number three.

As usual, there were a couple of Nintendo titles sprinkled in, with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at number four, Luigi’s Mansion 3 at number three, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at twelve, and Pokémon Sword at fourteen. Dr. Kawashima’s Brain Training only came in at number eighteen, but it seems likely that positive word of mouth will bump it up a few spots in the coming weeks.

By this point, we’ve basically come to accept that Grand Theft Auto V will appear on video game sales charts until the end of time, and sure enough, it appeared at number six. Heck, it even beat Rockstar’s own Red Dead Redemption 2 (which made number nine), despite having been released years prior.

Rounding things off, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Breakpoint made number nineteen, with Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled holding on for dear life at number twenty. And while there weren’t any new games listed on this week’s chart, we look forward to seeing how all the scheduled new releases fare as the year progresses.
