Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born’s First Trailer Drops

A Star Is Born

The new trailer for Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut/evident passion project, A Star Is Born, has dropped online today, in which we get to see Bradley swoon and smoulder with a southern drawl straight from the Jeff Bridges school of southern acting.

The official plot synopsis from Warner Bros states:

“Seasoned musician Jackson Maine (Bradley Cooper) discovers-and falls in love with-struggling artist Ally (Lady Gaga). She has just about given up on her dream to make it big as a singer – until Jack coaxes her into the spotlight. But even as Ally’s career takes off, the personal side of their relationship is breaking down, as Jack fights an ongoing battle with his own internal demons.”

As well as being Bradley Cooper’s directorial debut (he even has a co-writing credit on the script), it is also Lady Gaga’s first time as a lead in a film. After her Golden Globe-winning turn as The Countess in season 5 of American Horror Story, the natural move to the big screen was always an inevitability, especially with a role that gets to utilise her stellar voice as part of the plot.

With an impressive cast that includes Sam Elliott and none other than Dave Chappelle, this could be an interesting tale of hard drinking, hard love and regret set in the modern day country music scene. Or it’ll end as failed Oscar bait for Bradley Cooper. Seems likely either way.

A Star Is Born is released in the US and UK on October 5th.
