In 2019, Netflix gave us a new gripping zombie story with Black Summer. Even though it’s a spin-off of Z Nation, it has a different vibe that’ll make you feel tense and thrilled throughout its two seasons. After Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger, fans are eagerly waiting for Black Summer: Season 3.

However, it’s been two years since Black Summer released Season 2. And considering that Black Summer only had a two-year gap between its previous seasons, it’s easy to question whether or not it’ll get a third season. To clear everything up, here’s everything you need to know about Black Summer: Season 3.

When Is Black Summer: Season 3 Being Released?

Unfortunately, there has been no news regarding Black Summer: Season 3’s release date. Netflix has also yet to officially renew Black Summer for another season. Several reasons could affect Netflix’s verdict to greenlight Black Summer: Season 3.

For instance, several fans agree that the series contains frustrating decisions from the characters. Some also say that Black Summer lacks character development, making it hard to care for the fate of certain characters. Despite its popularity, these flaws may stop Netflix from renewing Black Summer.

Still, there’s no announcement that Black Summer is cancelled, so there’s a slim chance it’ll happen. If Netflix gives any new updates regarding Black Summer: Season 3, we’ll let you know through this article.

Will The Cast Return For Black Summer: Season 3?

Since the series is still waiting for renewal, it’s unknown if the cast will return for Black Summer: Season 3. Moreover, the actors and crew seem to have gone their separate ways and taken other acting jobs. Jamie King, known for portraying the protagonist Rose, is set to appear in the movie Lights Out along with Scott Adkins, Dermot Mulroney, and Frank Grillo. It’s also unclear whether or not her character survived after the previous season’s finale.

However, King was asked in an interview regarding her thoughts on the show’s future. She specifically said that “I have a few ideas. I’m excited to get the writer’s room going again. This is the kind of series that could go on forever, but I think it would be really powerful to do it in just three seasons, if possible.” Based on her statements, it looks like the actress is enthusiastic about returning to the show for another season.

What Could Black Summer: Season 3 Be About?

If it were to be made, Black Summer: Season 3 needs to answer the questions left behind by the second season. First, we’ll finally see if Rose survived the last encounter. It was unclear if Rose lived or died, so Season 3 may start by showing her fate.

Fans also need to know where the plane Sun boarded is headed to. Some theories say that Black Summer ties into Z Nation, so Sun will be forced to join a vaccine test that’ll determine if there’s a cure for the disease. Still, that’s just speculation since it’s not confirmed what Black Summer: Season 3 will be about.
