There's slim pickings this week.

God, it’s March already. Many of us out here haven’t even got over March 2020, but here we are in March 2021 and things continue looking quite grim. However, we’ve still got a week of games to look forward to. Here’s all the biggest games for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and Switch that are launching this week. Well, it’s two new games that are launching this week, one is just a re-release, but still, it’s a significant release.

Harvest Moon: One World | March 2nd, 2021

Developer: Natsume
Publisher: Natsume, Rising Star Games
Platform(s): PS4, Nintendo Switch

Farming/life management sims have become a huge genre in gaming ever since the success of Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing, so it makes sense that there’s a new Harvest Moon game coming to capitalise on the genre’s newfound popularity. Unfortunately, Harvest Moon: One World might not find many fans, considering that Natsume aren’t the original developers of the series. Marvelous Entertainment and XSeed Games were originally behind Harvest Moon, and they’re now developing Story of Seasons, which fans consider to be the true successor to Harvest Moon.

That being said, Harvest Moon: One World seems to have a bunch of new ideas that could make it a real contender, chief among them being the fact that you can set up your farm in a variety of different biomes. Each biome has its own animals and crops, making farming across the world a more enticing prospect. You can even stay out past the regular curfews, which is clearly a revolutionary feature.

Monster Jam: Steel Titans 2 | March 2nd, 2021

Developer: Rainbow Studios
Publisher: THQ Nordic
Platform(s): PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch

If last year’s Monster Truck Championship taught me anything, it’s that racing games with Monster Trucks can be more fun than you’d expect. However, MTC focused a lot more on the simulation aspect of owning a Monster Truck, so if you’re after something that’s a little bit more fun and bombastic, Monster Jam: Steel Titans 2 might be right up your alley.

Steel Titans 2 is a love letter to all things “Monster Trucks”, with 38 trucks for players to choose from, and plenty of authentic stadiums to boot. Where Steel Titans 2 becomes more fun though is with the range of worlds to explore. From spooky haunted mansions to the aptly named Camp Crushmore, along with the introduction of online multiplayer, Monster Jam: Steel Titans 2 could be a dark horse gaming release this month.

Hey, stranger things have happened.

Yakuza: Like A Dragon (PS5 Version) | March 2nd, 2021

Yakuza: Like A Dragon

Developer: Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio
Publisher: SEGA
Platform(s): PS5 (already available elsewhere)

It’s a slow week, okay? Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio’s grand overhaul of the long-running Yakuza series has already been available for PC, PS4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S since November of last year, and while the game has been available to play on PS5 via backwards compatibility, it’s only now that players will be able to experience the full benefits of the PS5 when playing Yakuza: Like A Dragon.

Moving away from the escapades of regular series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, Like A Dragon puts players in the shoes of Ichiban Kasuga, as ventures around Yokohama trying to find out the reason why his clan was destroyed. Unlike the series’ usual beat ‘em up action, Like A Dragon utilises a turn-based combat system not too dissimilar to the one seen in Dragon Quest. There’s even a job system that allows Like A Dragon to showcase that classic Yakuza weirdness.
