Bethesda have announced today that they will be bringing The Elder Scrolls Online and DOOM Eternal to both the PS5 and Xbox Series X, and that players will be able to upgrade their copies once they become available for the low, low price of free. I’m already excited about the idea of next-gen DOOM Eternal, even if it just means the load times between deaths are better.

Bethesda haven’t confirmed release windows or what kind of enhancements we can expect from the next-gen versions of both games, but they’ve promised in a press release that more information will be dropping in the coming weeks and months. Also, Bethesda have stated that they’re committed to offering free upgrades to all existing Bethesda titles, so don’t be surprised to see enhanced versions of Fallout 76 and, because of course, Skyrim, in the future.

With QuakeCon At Home taking place this weekend on Bethesda’s Twitch account, it’s likely that we’ll hear more news about the future of DOOM Eternal and The Elder Scrolls Online. Hopefully, we’ll get some concrete news on DOOM Eternal’s DLC plans. I’m waiting for an opportunity to jump back in.
