Arcane: Season 2 – Release Window, Story & What You Should Know

Don't Jinx up the second season

Arcane: Season 2

Shows based on video games haven’t always been on the best of terms with general audiences, but the League of Legends animated spin-off Arcane couldn’t have made its debut any more spectacular. The animation felt like paintings brought to life, and the story nailed every aspect of what an adaptation should be. With the show now having an insane amount of following, demand for Arcane: Season 2 seems to have grown quite out of hand.

But you’ll be pleased to know that Arcane: Season 2 has already been confirmed to be in production. About two weeks after first airing on Netflix in November 2021, the official Twitter account of the show revealed that development on the sequel is underway. As such, here’s an overview of everything you should know about it.

When Is Arcane: Season 2 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, neither Netflix nor Fortiche Productions have announced the release date for Arcane: Season 2. Although, this time around, they have claimed the sequel won’t take them another six years to make, so expect the second season to arrive sometime in late 2024 or early 2025.

Yes, Arcane: Season 1 did take Fortiche six years to produce, primarily due to the specific animation choice and the fact that video game adaptations are a risky play in general. But hopefully, due to the massive support the studio now has, they might be able to surprise fans sooner than later.

What Is Arcane: Season 2 About? (Spoiler Alert)

The first three episodes of the show did an amazing job of introducing you to the world of Arcane, and as the story progressed, the series amped up every part of its family feud between Jinx and Vi.

The cliffhanger ending had Jinx blast a rocket launcher at the Piltover Council, not knowing that Zaun was about to finally get its independence like everyone wanted. The ending makes an interesting prospect for Arcane: Season 2. Jinx could be devastated at what she cost everyone and turn good somehow or she might just keep being Jinx. Either way, it’s hard to predict where the show will head next due to it being a totally original story, so we guess we’ll have to wait a bit longer.

Who Is In The Cast Of Arcane: Season 2?

One of the greatest contributors to Arcane’s success was its striking sound design. The top-notch voice acting and environmental audio impeccably swooped us away into the world of Runeterra, and it was an enjoyable ride through and through.

Many among the main cast are returning for Arcane: Season 2. That includes Hailee Steinfeld reprising her role as the ill-tempered protagonist Violet “Vi”, Ella Purnell as the mischievous deuteragonist Jinx, and Kevin Alejandro as the technologically-driven tritagonist Jayce Talis, well at least we can only hope Jayce is present in the entire second season.

The first season’s finale had a rocket being launched at the Piltover Council where a ton of characters were gathered. If the story progresses in a way that the blast causes characters to die, then we might not get to see Jayce Talis, Cecil B. Heimerdinger (Mick Wingert), Mel Medarda (Toks Olagundoye), and many others beyond the initial episode of Arcane: Season 2.

It’s really hard to predict the cast because of that, and there’s been no official announcement as well, but on the bright side, if some characters do die, you can expect even better ones to take their place considering the amazing storytelling of the show.

Which Studio Is Making Arcane: Season 2?

With animation being one of the leading factors behind its success, most are hoping that Fortiche reprises its lead, and luckily, that’s the case. As far as the visual quality is concerned, Arcane: Season 2 rests in good hands.

Along with Fortiche’s stunning artwork, the franchise’s parent company Riot Games will help direct the story once again, so definitely anticipate a hard-hitting new season.

Where Will Arcane: Season 2  Be Aired?

Arcane: Season 1 was a Netflix original series and for now it can only be streamed there. Evidently, the release for Arcane: Season 2 should be the same, although that doesn’t confirm that it’ll never arrive on other platforms.

It’s no secret that Arcane’s debut took us by surprise, and with development on a sequel now set in motion, it’ll be exciting to see whether it can work its magic twice and go on to win even more awards.
